Real-World Treatment Patterns Among US Adults with Unresectable Hepatocellular Carcinoma (HCC) Eligible For Locoregional Therapy (LRT)

Challenge
The treatment landscape for unresectable non-metastatic HCC (uHCC) eligible for locoregional therapy was evolving rapidly with new systemic options, but real-world data on contemporary treatment patterns, outcomes, and the actual role of systemic therapy in this population were absent from post-2020 practice.
Solution
The TARGET-HCC registry was used to identify uHCC patients initiating first treatment between 2020 and 2023 and characterize index treatment selection, subsequent treatment patterns, radiological progression, and survival outcomes using time-to-event analyses.
Impact
Establishing contemporary real-world treatment pattern benchmarks for uHCC eligible for locoregional therapy informs the design of post-authorization effectiveness studies and provides the natural history context needed for sponsors developing combination locoregional-systemic HCC regimens.
