Challenge

In the early months of the COVID-19 pandemic, real-world data describing clinical characteristics, treatment patterns, and outcomes of hospitalized patients across a large and diverse US hospital network were urgently needed.

Solution

Target RWE researchers analyzed hospital chargemaster data from 11,721 COVID-19 inpatients across a national US hospital network, characterizing demographics, comorbidities, in-hospital treatments, and clinical outcomes.

Impact

Providing one of the earliest large-scale real-world characterizations of hospitalized COVID-19 patients in the US established Target RWE's chargemaster data platform as a rapidly deployable tool for pandemic-era evidence generation.
